Experts urge seasonal immunization of children
Emergency Management Alert, June 16, 2009
With a second wave of H1N1 influenza virus expected this winter, some experts are warning that children should be immunized against the seasonal flu, according to the East Valley Tribune (AZ). Immunizing children first and foremost would help hospitals avoid an overload of patients during the winter, as a surge is expected from both the seasonal flu and H1N1 flu.
The Centers for Disease and Control now recommends the vaccine for all children. The vaccine does not protect against the H1N1 virus.
