The FDA posted a fact sheet addressing frequently asked questions (FAQ) on the use of masks and respirators for the 2009 H1N1 flu virus on May 8.
The Q&As include:
• What are facemasks and N95 respirators?
• What’s the difference between a facemask and an N95 respirator?
• Do N95 respirators reduce the chances of contracting the 2009 H1N1 flu virus?
The FAQ also explains in detail the FDA’s role in Emergency Use Authorization (EUA). In emergencies the EUA allows for the deployment of FDA approved products from the strategic national stockpile for use by the general public, which includes work-related duties.
The OSHA Healthcare Advisor Video Library page has added two free video clips from “Respirator Safety for Healthcare Workers.” The clips focus on OSHA compliant training for N95 respirators.
