It’s likely that every hospital in the country is discussing what to do if swine flu outbreaks occur in the community.

  • Security officers at entrances to the University of Chicago Medical Center are making sure that anyone entering the facility uses hand gel before coming in, a spokesperson told the Associated Press
  • Planners at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) have invited a representative from the university’s Graduate School of Public Health to daily meetings on swine flu preparedness at the health system, said William Smith, senior director of emergency preparedness at UPMC
  • The chief medical officer of Children’s Hospital Wisconsin in Wauwatosa, WI, has been updating the facility’s blog with information about swine flu precautions
