OSHA added pandemic influenza to its list of safety and health topic Web pages, citing the importance of education and outreach that will be needed by workplaces to respond to this event that will disrupt everyday life.
"During a pandemic, transmission can be anticipated in the workplace, not only from patient to workers in healthcare settings, but also among co-workers in general work settings," according to OSHA."
A new resource appearing on the Web page is the most frequently asked questions about OSHA's Pandemic Influenza Preparedness and Response Guidance for Healthcare Workers and Healthcare Employers.
For responding to a pandemic situation specific to physician practices, download "Planning for a Pandemic" from the Tools page OSHA Healthcare Advisor.
