Two weeks ago we told you how The Joint Commission’s internal Surveyor Survey Activity Guide differed from the publicly posted Survey Activity Guide when it came to reviewing certain physical environment provisions.
The internal guide indicates a specific EC tracer will be conducted during the EC session, and an emergency management tracer--which was part of EC session activities in years past for hospitals--will now be conducted during regular tracer activity outside of the EC session.
Since then, The Joint Commission has updated its public Survey Activity Guide to reflect the revised EC tracer procedures. There is no specific mention in this version of the emergency management tracer, though certainly surveyors can choose to trace this topic during regular tracer activity.
