Tip of the week: If budget cuts come calling, prioritize security training for staff members

In this period of potential cutbacks in training budgets, one quick idea for security education is to prioritize.
 
For example, consider the highest-risk security areas in your hospital and focus your attention there if you can no longer train everyone, said Richard Sem, CSC, CPP, president of Sem Security Management of Trevor, WI.
 
These areas typically include the ER and maternity unit, Sem said, because those are the places where your hospital makes the most contact with outside visitors.
