Drilling in on dental bioaerosol hazards

Particles which originate from the patients' mouth and from the biofilms found in dental water units, are so small that they suspend in the air for hours, not just near the patient but throughout the room, according to the online brochure "Bioaerosols in dental offices: Choosing the right mask" by the Institut de recherche Robert-Sauvé en santé et en sécurité du travail, Montréal, Quebec.
The pamphlet provides an easy-to-understand explanation of how surgical masks afford only partial protection compared to certified respirators.
