OSHA issued its most recent inspection activity report on December 19 and characterized its work as "another successful enforcement year in FY 2008."
OSHA conducted 38,591 total inspections, which is 2.4% more inspections than the agency's stated goal of 37,700, according to the report fact sheet.
Although inspections increased overall, unprogrammed inspection such as complaints and referrals--the type of inspections mostly associated with ambulatory healthcare facilities--declined 4% from last year and 11.5% since 2004, according to the report.
