Ergonomics standard not a sure bet

Don't be too sure that OSHA under the Obama administration will promulgate an ergonomics standard.
At a recent webcast for the American Society of Safety Engineers, John Henshaw, former assistant secretary of labor for OSHA, and John Howard, former director of NIOSH, predicted that an ergonomics standard is unlikely in the coming years because of the struggling economy.
Both agreed that the absence of a standard did not eliminate the importance of businesses to educate employees on how ergonomics can prevent musculoskeletal injuries.
