NTSB targets medical flight safety for next year

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has formally put improved safety of medical helicopter flights on its list of critical issues for next year.
The move comes after a sad string of medical chopper crashes over the past year. In the last 11 months, there have been nine medical helicopter accidents, resulting in 35 deaths, according to the NTSB.
Although the NTSB has previously issued recommendations to improve the safety of these flights, the Federal Aviation Administration has not carried out the changes, the NTSB said.
