OSHA has created a new safety and injury prevention module and revised the surgery section to of its Hospital eTool Web site. Though organized for hospital settings, much of this information applies to ambulatory settings as well, such as medical practices, clinics, and surgery centers.
The sonography module provides guidance on reducing the risk of musculoskeletal disorders, which are common among diagnostic medical sonographers and sonologists.
OSHA revised the surgical module to feature updated information on bloodborne pathogens, waste anesthetic gases, laser safety, and other topics related to workplace safety and health in surgical suites.
