Tip of the week: Confirm training for disasters in the wee hours

Emergency preparedness is an around-the-clock function, and as such it is important to verify training for a particular group of workers.
 
It is critical that all night shift staff members receive disaster response education because there are fewer people to assist in an emergency during off-hours.
 
In addition, factor in a potential response delay by hospital leadership when an emergency occurs during the evening or overnight hours.
 
This week’s tip was culled from HCPro’s new book, Hospital Safety Exercises Toolkit: Disaster Plans for All Hazards and Joint Commission Compliance.
