OSHA is including nursing and personal care facilities in its 2008 Site-Specific Targeting (SST) plan. The SST will concentrate on approximately 3,800 high-hazard worksites for unannounced comprehensive safety inspections during the year, according to a May 21 agency announcement.
Inspections of nursing and personal care facilities "will focus specifically on ergonomic stressors; exposure to blood and other potentially infectious materials; exposure to tuberculosis; and slips, trips, and falls," according to the SST plan.
