Drills test emergency response plans for next Super Bowl
Emergency Management Alert, May 20, 2008
While the event is many months away, the city of Tampa and Florida's Hillsborough County held drills last week to prepare for the possibility of a disaster at the 2009 Super Bowl.
Local and state officials, along with disaster managers at the Federal Emergency Management Agency, held drills at Raymond James Stadium to prepare for things they hope don’t happen during the Super Bowl, the Tampa Tribune reported. The drills involved officials from the National Football League to Tampa Fire Rescue to the Seminole Indian Tribe responder groups.
Officials tested plans for how emergency responders would react in the event of an emergency.
