While full details are still sketchy, it appears a sprinkler mishap at a hospital in Elmira, NY, was the result of someone tampering with the device, according to the Elmira Star-Gazette.

A sprinkler head discharged water into a room at St. Joseph’s Hospital on April 10, even though there was no fire in the area. The incident didn’t disrupt any services at the hospital.

The local fire department removed the sprinkler head and after examining it, determined that someone had tampered with it so that it would release water, the Star-Gazette reported.
