NIOSH blog warns about suture-stick hazards

Sharp-tipped suture needles cause 51%-77% of percutaneous injuries among surgical personnel, according to the latest entry of the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Science Blog.

The blog entry identifies seven common examples when suture needle sticks are likely to occur and recognizes professional organizations and resources that support the use of blunt-tipped suture needles.
