Two hospital employees suffered injuries after a patient allegedly stabbed them in the neck with scissors at a hospital in Gastonia, NC.

The first victim was making rounds through the psychiatric unit of Gaston Memorial Hospital on February 20 when the suspect attacked her with the scissors, reported the Charlotte Observer. The employee pressed an alarm button, and a nurse responded, but she was also allegedly stabbed.

The patient then escaped the unit, got into an elevator, and briefly fled the hospital before police caught him outside, the Observer said. The employees are expected to recover.

The hospital planned to investigate how the patient got a hold of the scissors, according to the Observer.
