EC.5.20 remains a heavily cited standard, according to Joint Commission data published in the February 2008 Joint Commission Perspectives.
Statistics culled from accredited hospital surveys during the first half of 2007 show that 27% of facilities received a requirement for improvement for EC.5.20 deficiencies. That standard requires compliance with the Life Safety Code and Statement of Conditions.
