January 31 audioconference: EMAC and public health response
Emergency Management Alert, January 8, 2008
Those who are familiar with the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC) may know it as a system more commonly associated with firefighting and military applications than with public health. An interstate mutual-aid agreement that provides a framework for sharing personnel, equipment, and other resources during emergencies and disasters, EMAC has shown its effectiveness in such national emergencies as Hurricane Katrina. A Webcast sponsored by the South Central Center for Public Health Preparedness and the Alabama Department of Public Health examines EMAC's application in public health response. Follow this link to learn more about the live Webcast, "Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC) and Its Application for Public Health Emergency Response and Recovery Operations," on January 31, from 12:00-1:30 p.m., EST.
