CMS releases Medicare Physician Fee Schedule final rule

On November 1, CMS released the 2008 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule final rule revealing a 10.1% cut in reimbursement for outpatient therapy services for 2008. In addition to the slash in reimbursement, therapists now have 90 days to obtain a plan of care recertification instead of the original 30 days. The final rule will be available on the Federal Register on November 27.
