Two-year jail sentence for Medicare fraud conviction

After pleading guilty to healthcare fraud, a Colorado physical therapy company owner was convicted of defrauding Medicare and sentenced to two years in prison, according to the Denver Business Journal. She will also face three years of supervised release and was ordered pay Medicare $533,806. Authorities audited the therapist's company in April 2003 and found that she was secretly adding procedure codes to her therapists' time sheets, according to the newspaper.
