PTs promote intervention over drugs

Rehab Regs, August 24, 2007

From 1997 to 2005 retail sales of five leading painkillers has nearly doubled in use prompting the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) to acknowledge that more people than ever need a PT's intervention, according to an APTA press release.

The Associated Press conducted the analysis of federal drug prescription data. APTA President Scott Ward stated that a PT's intervention can help alleviate pain and inflammation caused by chronic back, shoulder, or knee pain, according to the press release.
