Software enhances speech therapy

This tool is a speech communication and therapy aide for patients suffering speech communication disabilities, often due to stroke, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, Muscular Dystrophy, and Autism. The patient types in or chooses words from an alphabetized list to build sentences; then the software generates the text into speech using either a male or female voice through the computers speakers. It also provides 911 alerts, medication reminders, and a caregiver's log.
The software is currently available in English for Windows based PC's. The Spanish release is expected in 2008, according to Hospital Business Week.
