APTA promotes rehab research

Rehab Regs, August 17, 2007

On Tuesday, the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) submitted a statement to the Interagency Committee on Disability Research (ICDR) emphasizing the need to place a higher priority on rehabilitation therapy research, according to an APTA release.

The four key areas outlined included:

  • Funding for studies on effective dosages of physical rehabilitation therapies
  • Training new scientists in rehabilitation and disability research
  • Working with other federal agencies to reduce clinical research payment limits
  • Alternative research designs outside of randomized controlled trials

These areas coincide with six areas APTA brought before ICDR in May of 2006 and continue to take priority for PT research, according to the release.
