SCHIP program to benefit from bill

Potential changes to 2008 Medicare payments will have PTs seeing an increase in payments and funding, according to an American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) press release. The State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) will benefit from the $90 billion Children's Health and Medicare Protection Act, HR 3162.
The bill includes:
- Two-year extension to the therapy cap
- .5% update in fee schedule payments through 2009
- $50 billion increase in funding over five years through the House SCHIP proposal
