Speech-language pathologists can expect student loan forgiveness
Rehab Regs, July 20, 2007
The U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 2669 to eliminate $19 billion in student loan lender subsidies, according to an American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) press release. The bill, the College Cost Reduction Act of 2007, will create a loan forgiveness program for new borrowers. Speech-language pathologists are eligible for student loan forgiveness if they are employed in areas of national need. For each year of full-time employment, a borrower would have up to $1,000 of his or her loans forgiven, up to a lifetime maximum of $5,000, according to AHSA's press release.
