Therapists face reimbursement cut with new fee schedule

CMS released the proposed changes to the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule on July 2. The fee schedule is currently in the comment period, and therapists have until August 31 to contact CMS. The final rule will be published in November 2007. The potential changes include:
- 9.9% cut in reimbursement for therapists
- updated standards and requirements for therapists
- revised regulations for Comprehensive Outpatient Rehabilitation Facilities
- 60-day extension to the certification of the plan of care
