Therapist paid government back $100,000
Rehab Regs, July 6, 2007
A Rhode Island physical therapist paid the government $100,000 to settle potential charges of Medicare fraud, reported the Providence Business News. Between January 2000 and August 2005, William Wynne submitted $696,313 in Medicare claims. A recent audit found that some claims were billed at higher payment codes and others were for medically unnecessary procedures.
Wynne also billed for treatments lasting from 30 to 60 minutes, when he actually only met with the patients for 10 to 20 minutes, reported the Providence Business News.
