Direct access PT available to Oregon residents

Rehab Regs, June 29, 2007

Residents in Oregon can now visit a physical therapist (PT) without a physician's referral, according to an American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) press release. House Bill 2386 was signed into law on June 13 providing patients with direct access to PTs.

This law, HB 2386, allows patients 60 days of PT treatment without a referral if the patient has been referred to a PT for the same condition within a previous year. Before the law, patients were allotted only 30 days of treatment, according to the APTA press release.
