SLP practices unlicensed for six years

Rehab Regs, June 15, 2007

A speech-language pathologist (SLP) who practiced in a Vermont school recently quit after information surfaced that she was neither licensed nor regulated, according to The Burlington Free Press. Now, the Department of Education (DOE) is saying it's not their responsibility to take action against unlicensed SLPs and are placing the blame on the school's superintendent. The DOE claims it can only stop licensed SLPs from working in Vermont, but it doesn't have jurisdiction over unlicensed therapists. The SLP in question is in the process of renewing her license, according to the newspaper.
