Georgia governor vetoes therapy bill

Rehab Regs, June 15, 2007

A Georgia bill to extend prior approval for therapy visits to six months from the current three months and require the state to cover children for 16 units of physical, occupational, or speech therapy per month was vetoed last week, according to the Gwinnett Daily Post. The state currently covers eight units of therapy-four units is one hour of therapy. The governor stated that his reason to veto House Bill 549 was because CMS would not approve it because the bill restricts Georgia's ability to conduct appropriate prior authorization review, according to the newspaper.
