OTs count yourselves in for the PQRI eligibility

Rehab Regs, May 25, 2007

Occupational therapists (OT) are included in the Medicare Physician Quality Reporting Initiative (PQRI) program. OTs can participate using the "screen for future fall risk" quality measure, according to an American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) press release.

There are currently 74 PQRI quality measures for services paid under the Medicare physician fee schedule that eligible professionals can report if the service was provided between July 1 and December 31, 2007.

Those who choose to do so may earn a bonus payment of 1.5% of their charges during that time period, CMS stated during the forum. The bonus applies to allowed charges for all covered professional services, not just those charges associated with reported quality measures.

Participating therapists will be required to include their National Provider Identifier, according to the AOTA press release.
