Videos games help patients recover from brain injuries

Rehab Regs, May 25, 2007

To help a brain-injured boxer recover, a rehabilitation facility in Canada is using Nintendo's Wii Sports, according to The Escapist. The Wii remote controller helps the patient regain balance and coordination while playing a boxing video game. The brain-injured boxer is now out of a wheelchair and standing, which OTs give credit in part to the game

Occupational therapists (OT) at the facility believes that since the game is fun, patients work harder and don't mind being in therapy for over an hour or so, according to The Escapist.
