New law in Washington to license PTAs

Rehab Regs, April 27, 2007

Washington became the 39th state on April 18 to license physical therapy assistants (PTA), according to an American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) press release. The new law, SB 5292, now guarantees PTAs the highest degree of public protection and ensures that PTAs will have the right education and training background.

The law also regulates PTAs, previously PTAs who were disciplined for improper or illegal practices in other states left to practice in Washington, according to the APTA press release.
