Washington, DC, has jumped on the direct access bandwagon
Rehab Regs, March 30, 2007
Direct access to physical therapists is now an option for patients living in Washington, DC, according to an American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) press release. Washington, DC, is joining 43 other states in passing "direct access" legislation. This will eliminate a step for patients and allow them to go directly to a physical therapist without a physician referral requirement.
The Physical Therapy Amendment Act (bill number 437) eliminates the middle-man and allows patients direct access to their physical therapist, according to the press release.
