Potential ABN form in comment period
Rehab Regs, March 16, 2007
CMS is consolidating the two Advanced Beneficiary Notices (ABN) for outpatient providers into one and adding an extra step so it's more consistent with the Home Health ABN and the Skilled Nursing Facility ABN. The new form, Advanced Beneficiary Notice of Noncoverage (ABN) will keep the same acronym to avoid confusion, says CMS. The main difference with the new form is it adds a column for estimated cost for providers. This columns allows for a place to add cost upfront so beneficiaries are aware of the cost of services provided. The form is still in its 60-day comment period. Contact CMS if you have comments or suggestions.
