Don't stop and go directly to your physical therapist

Rehab Regs, March 2, 2007

A new law in Virginia will remove the middleman and allow patients to go directly to a physical therapist for treatment, according to an American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) press release.

Currently, patients must get a referral from their physician before visiting a physical therapist. The new law, HB 2087 and SB 1305 will save patients time, money, and prevent a delay in treatment by allowing them to go directly to a physical therapist, according to the press release.
