Bill will alleviate student loan debt
Rehab Regs, February 23, 2007
A newly introduced legislation might help physical therapists drowning in student loans breathe a little easier.
Under the National Health Services Corps Loan Repayment Program, physical therapists who practice in areas suffering from a shortage in healthcare professionals will be eligible for student loan repayment assistance with the Physical Therapist Student Loan Repayment Eligibility Act (HR 1134), according to an American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) press release.
The bill's purpose is to attract more physical therapists to rural areas with the incentive of relieving some of their financial burdens. The bill would add physical therapists to a list of providers already eligible for the program, according to the APTA press release.
