Nintendo Wii could be used for PT
Rehab Regs, February 9, 2007
Medical researchers are attempting to use the Nintendo Wii gaming console to help treat children who suffer from hemiplegic cerebral palsy, reported MarketingVOX.com.
The console, which requires users to use their body movements to control events on the screen, has already been linked to weight loss in some users.
Studies show that the Wii burns three time more calories than traditional video games. While the research of the Wii as a PT tool is still in its initial phases, users playing games such as bowling, tennis, and baseball on it, say it is a fun way to get in a work out, and does cause physical exertion if used long enough, according to MarketingVOX.com.
