UnitedHealth changing its fee schedule
Rehab Regs, January 19, 2007
UnitedHealth Group, a major national healthcare insurer, and its subsidiary, ACN Group, recently proposed changes to their payment policies, according to the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).
The insurers recently sent out letters notifiying providers of changes to their fee schedules, which will now be based on a per diem reimbursement methodology.
This methodology will include all professional fees and supplies, and reimbursement rates will vary across the country. APTA says it has learned that some rates are more than 40% higher than others and UnitedHealth and ANC Group have been willing to negotiate these rates.
APTA is encouraging providers who contract with UnitedHealth or ANC to contact the insurers to ask for appropriate reimbursement.
