Some South Carolina PTs could lose license

Rehab Regs, January 5, 2007

First the South Carolina Supreme Courts ruled that PTs in the state could not be employed by physicians, and now the state's Office of Investigations and Enforcement is investigating many of those therapists that previously worked for physicians, according to the Spartanburg (SC) Herald Journal.

Some PTs in the state who previously worked for physicians say they have received letters saying an investigation is under way to determine if any wrongdoings occurred, such as referrals for profit.

The investigation is going on just as many of these therapists are getting back on their feet after trying to open their own practices once they were forced to leave the physicians' offices, reported the Herald Journal.
