CMS must publish bonus reporting measures by April

Rehab Regs, December 29, 2006

CMS should expand its list of quality reporting measures to include services frequently provided by therapists, according to the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).

Therapists are listed as "eligible professionals" to participate in the quality measures reporting program, which provides a 1.5% bonus payment for reporting on quality measures beginning July 1, 2007. However, the existing list of reporting measures is based only on physician services, according to PT Bulletin Online.

APTA pointed out several physician measures that therapists might be able to report, but urged the agency to recognize measures approved by other consensus-based processes such as Category II CPT codes. CMS must publish January 2007 changes on its Web site by April 1 to be part of the 2007 reporting program, reported PT Bulletin Online.
