APTA working with CMS on quality measures
Rehab Regs, December 22, 2006
The American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) says that while therapists are among the designated healthcare providers eligible to participate in the new Medicare bonus payment program, a system for the reporting still must be worked out, reported PT Bulletin Online.
The APTA is working with CMS to develop the measures and systems that will be used in the quality measures reporting program, which will give complying therapists a 1.5% bonus payment beginning July 1, 2007.
The payment will be made in the form of a single consolidated payment and subject to a cap computed on the basis of the size or number of services the professional provides, according to PT Bulletin Online.
