Students not receiving necessary OT and PT
Rehab Regs, November 17, 2006
A Maryland school system is threatening to alter its health program because the department is having a difficult time providing OT and PT services to 68 disabled students in the county, according to The Capital in Annapolis, MD.
The school system's superintendent says he will pull the $4 million in funding for the program if the department is unable to provide the therapy. The county's health officer blames the problem on staffing issues.
Superintendent Kevin Maxwell says he'll find his own therapists for his students if the health department doesn't step up, and he recommends boosting salaries and bonuses to get the necessary staff on board, according to The Capital.
