Fee schedule increases cap limits; decreases payment
Rehab Regs, November 10, 2006
The 2007 Medicare fee schedule will increase the therapy caps to $1,780 for PT and SLP combined and $1,780 for OT services, both up $40 from 2006.
The final regulations also acknowledge that CMS does not have the power to extend the exceptions process and that it is in the hands of Congress.
The final fee schedule also calls for therapy payments to be cut by as much as 10% in 2007-a result of a 5% reduction in the conversion factor and a 5% budget neutrality adjustment due to changes in relative work values.
Congress reconvenes November 13 and will have an opportunity to discuss and alter both items.
