Rehab company finds success with Parkinson's program
Rehab Regs, November 10, 2006
A Texas PT has opened a clinic that specializes in treating patients with Parkinson's disease, according to the San Antonio Express-News.
Melinda Rodriguez told the paper that she was tired of dealing with the decreasing reimbursement and cap limits set by Medicare for rehab, so she opened her clinic in the Warm Springs Rehabilitation Hospital at the South Texas Medical Center.
By billing under the hospital provider number, Rodriguez' patients are not subject to the cap, she said.
Also, by establishing the clinic as the place in the San Antonia area to receive therapy for Parkinson's, Rodriguez has found a profitable niche that works well for patients who need a tailor-made program. Patients can also get support from others in the program, reported the Express-News.
