CMS searching for alternative therapy payment systems
Rehab Regs, October 27, 2006
CMS released three studies this week that the agency is using in an attempt to find alternative payment systems to replace the therapy cap, according to PT Bulletin Online.
The studies took a closer look at Medicare outpatient therapy services and included a study on pay-for-performance.
The American Physical Therapy Association is analyzing the studies and said it will issue summaries on its thoughts soon.
To view the studies, go to www.cms.hhs.gov/therapyservices/. The pay-for-performance study was conducted by Focus on Therapeutic Outcomes, while Computer Sciences Corporation conducted the other two.
