ASHA develops Web site to educate children
Rehab Regs, October 13, 2006
The American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) launched a new campaign this week to help parents educate their children about the proper use of personal audio technology.
Through the Web site www.listentoyourbuds.org, parents can sit down at the computer with their children to learn hearing loss prevention tips from two animated characters called the Buds.
The Buds tell children the importance of keeping the volume down when listening to music through ear buds and headphones.
ASHA says that it hopes the campaign will stress the dangers of unsafe usage of personal audio equipment that allows users to listen to music at loud decibels.
