College operates therapy-based running and cycling clinic
Rehab Regs, August 25, 2006
Des Moines (IA) University is operating one of the country's only physical therapy-based running and cycling clinics, according to the Storm Lake (IA) Pilot.
The clinic, which opened in 2001, specializes in diagnosing specialized injuries in runners and cyclists and in forming rehab programs to get the athletes back to maximum performance as quickly as possible.
It includes a human performance lab that offers 3-D analysis of an athlete's movements, physiology testing, and electromyography.
Though most of the services aren't covered by insurance, the clinic attracts many top athletes looking to come back from severe injuries or stay on top of their game, the Pilot reported.
