Connecticut passes direct access legislation

Rehab Regs, June 9, 2006

Connecticut became the 42nd state to pass direct access legislation when it passed bill SB 164 on June 2, according to PT Bulletin Online.

The bill eliminates the need for physician referrals for patients in need of physical therapy, which helps allows patients to receive therapy quicker, the American Physical Therapy Association says.

Connecticut is the third state, along with Georgia and Mississippi, to pass similar legislation since March.
